A massive congratulations to Dubliner Richard Baneham for his Oscar win last night for best visual effects on the blockbuster film ‘Avatar’.

Baneham, who won a Bafta award in the same category last month, was honoured for design work on the James Cameron movie – the most financially successful film in cinema history and one of Cybercom’s fav films of late.

Other Irish nominations, ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’, ‘The Secret Of Kells’ and ‘The Door’, lost out in their categories, but the mere fact that they were nominated is inspirational to all of us working in design and digital media in Ireland.
