Twitter the Movie: 140

140_twitter_movie_m

Irish filmmaker, Frank Kelly is creating a feature-length documentary inspired by the connectivity and synchronicity that Twitter users experience. His latest endeavour, 140, will consist of 140 different filmmakers, each shooting 140 seconds of film that represent what connects the filmmaker to their home.

The idea came from being able to communicate with a lot of people at once. The synchronicity of Twitter inspired Kelly to have all 140 filmmakers shoot their footage at the same time. Kelly is still in the midst of recruiting all of the filmmakers (follow him on Twitter), but with the help of Twitter and other social-networks there are already over 100 participants on board!

“There are a couple of students, all the way up to commercially successful, award-winning short filmmakers and documentary filmmakers…spanning nearly every continent on the globe. From Mumbai to Malaysia, the filmmakers will all be shooting in individual locations” says Kelly.

Kelly plans for shooting to take place on the 21st of June. “I visualize the end product as like a day in the life of the planet,” Kelly says. “It’ll capture the same moment across the world.”

Intern Auctions

cpb-intern-auction1

As reported on Brand Republic, Crispin Porter & Bogusky are holding the world’s only intern auction. Bidding on eBay started on Sunday at a mere US$1, and now stands at US$4,250. So what do you get?

The successful bidder will have 3 months service from one of CP&B’s interns. This will include a full creative presentation complete with creative strategies, creative concepts and a full market positioning strategy (the intern will not however provide finished ads or production materials). All regular wages are still paid by CP&B and the money from the auction goes to the intern themselves.

So if you want to get your hands on someone who can deliver, what CP&B call, “world-class advertising for a fraction of the going rate” just start bidding!.

Mac vs. PC: iLife

Sometimes a company really finds a creative route that not only suits the product but also suits the brand behind it. Without doubt the ‘Mac vs. PC’ series does that perfectly for Apple. TBWA, the agency behind the ads, have not only developed a concept that sits well with Apple, but epitomises the spirit of its users.

In a slightly less humourous approach, Microsoft’s counter-campaign ‘I’m a PC’ does appear to be hitting back. Abbey Klaassen writes in an article on AdAge, “Apple may have some of the most interesting online ads we’ve seen in a while, but Microsoft’s recent push to paint the competitor as pricey is starting to work, according to data from BrandIndex.”

So is it PCs or Macs? Well we’ll leave that up to you, either way this is an impressive homepage takeover on NYtimes.com
