Something tells us that all of you gamers out there will be looking foward to this…

What’ was that? Did someone say “Second Life with corporate restrictions…”!
It’s a great site that shows lots of interesting things on Google Maps including… wait for it… a downed airplane from 1981, the world’s largest cow, a fake city, a floating swimming pool and… um… the world’s largest erection!

We’re delighted to see the launch of Ireland’s very own photo sharing site, pix.ie! It’s a cool site with a great brand and some brilliant web 2.0 functionality.
Pix.ie is providing a social community for the Irish market and allows anyone to put their photos online for free. Although just started, the community is growing fast and this is definitely one to watch over the coming months!
We keep it to a minimum but it’s time to blow our own trumpet!
Cybercom has just come out of a highly competitive pitch process to be named Vodafone Ireland’s digital marketing and advertising agency.
We’re particularly proud as Vodafone is a huge global brand these days and it’s a particularly exciting time for the industry with the growing uptake of mobile Internet.
Hang tight for some brilliant strategic and creative thinking in the Irish market!

The value of pan-European online advertising is set to reach €16 billion per year by 2012 – more than double that of 2006 according to a new report from Forrester.
This will mean a jump from what’s currently 9% of advertising spend to 18% in five years. European Internet users now spend 14.3 hours a week online, compared with 11.3 hours watching TV, and 4.4 hours reading newspapers or magazines!
The UK will continue to see the largest online advertising spend over the next four years, ahead of Germany and France. The report also said search engines would continue to dominate spend followed by banner advertising and email marketing.
We talked about Facebook’s growth a couple of weeks back but check this out… according to a new Nielsen/NetRatings study, Facebook and Bebo have surpassed MySpace for social networking performance in the UK!
MySpace has just recorded a drop in UK traffic for only the second time since November 2005. Has MySpace finally reached a plateau?! What’s certain is that both Facebook and Bebo are set to gain significantly on MySpace over the coming months.
Perhaps of even more interest to us marketeres is that Facebook and Bebo have already topped MySpace when it comes to user engagement. This becomes even more important when you consider Neilsen’s recent change to measuring a site’s value based on the amount of time spent on the site.
So what about Ireland we hear you shout? Bebo is undoubtedly the leader with a total of 1.1m registered user profiles. According to comScore, 664,000 unique users or 46.6% coverage of all online individuals aged 15+ spend time on Bebo every month. Fairly impressive stuff!
The Bebo user profile is heavily skewed to under 24s who account for 47% of their overall users, this doesn’t include early teens who would bring the total over 50%. MySpace and Facebook have considerably lower reach in this market. My Space delivers 11% coverage and Facebook delivers 3% coverage. Interestingly, Facebook has grown from zero presence over the last four months.
We’d expect Facebook’s figures to grow substantially over the summer and expect it to eventually become the de facto number 1 hang out for those of us over 25!
